Unbound Recovery counselors are available to provide recovery tools to those with eating disorders and support to those with known risk factors of eating disorder such as chronic dieting, body image, anxiety, low self-esteem, and loneliness or isolation.
Adults
Unhealthy relationships with food and negative body image can disrupt not only a person's physical health but a person's wellbeing and interpersonal relationships. Underlying feelings of low self-worth or being unable to cope with uncomfortable emotions can cause unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. These thoughts and behaviors can be hard to control, ignore, or redirect; making it difficult to focus on engaging in work, relationships, or interests. Our counselors teach practical skills to help clients manage their pain, reduce feelings of isolation, and improve self-esteem.
Those struggling with body and food related concerns benefit from a targeted, integrative approach that utilizes proven interventions delivered in a structured format.
Adolescents
Treating adolescents who are experiencing eating disorder behaviors and risk factors of eating disorders requires the support and involvement of their caregiver(s). In Family-Based Treatment, caregivers are taught how to implement recovery tools in their home and provided with support and encouragement.
Caregivers often need reassurance that their child's condition is not their fault. Eating Disorders are the result of a complex set of factors which in some cases results in a dangerous and sometimes life-threatening condition. The eating disorder wreaks havoc in the lives of the children and teens it effects. The unwavering commitment from caregivers creates the structure adolescents need to stand united against the eating disorder.
