Education
Kohleen obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, with minors in Art and Interdisciplinary Neuroscience. Master of Counselor Education from Emporia State University with a concentration in Addictions Counseling. Credentials include being a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC).
Skill Set and Expertise
Kohleen is educated on and experienced in cross cultural counseling and cultural competency issues, having presented multiple research findings at the 2022 New Mexico Counseling Association (NMCA) Conference and 2023 American Psychological Association (APA) Conference. Kohleen is further trained in trauma counseling, with basic training in EMDR treatment modalities, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders via the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP). Other areas of specialty and practice include addictions counseling, internal family systems, family-based treatments, and cognitive behavioral therapies.
Treatment Approach
Kohleen strives to create a client-centered environment, approaching recovery and growth through a discussion-based balance of past and present experiences. Depending on client goals, she may transition between classic talk therapy techniques and other more directive approaches, incorporating trauma processing modalities as needed for eating disorder, post traumatic-, and/or other therapeutic growth.

Helping clients develop honest, engaging, and holistic self-awareness while incorporating a compassionate and accepting stance toward the self as an avenue for betterment and joy.
Personal Hobbies and Characteristics
Kohleen takes pride as an army spouse and mother of three. She enjoys knitting, quilting, reading, and cooking, as well as exploring favored coffee shops, farmers markets, and vintage stores. Long-term life goals include continued therapeutic practice and retreat to a quaint cabin/cottage, enjoying front porch coffee on rainy mornings.
